Lesson Basics
To start your lessons, you will need to wear long pants and boots or sneakers. You are more than welcome to borrow one of our ASTM approved riding helmets and chaps or you may wish to purchase your own equipment at a local tack shop. Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can get dressed and assist in grooming and tacking up your horse or pony. Horse grooming, tacking up, and an occasional un-mounted lesson are part of the GHERF horsemanship and riding experience.
Scheduling
Our horseback riding program time frame is flexible and we will do everything in our power to accommodate your schedule. The instructors will try to schedule each student at their first choice of time requested. Please contact the office at (305) 297-4729 so they are aware of your second choice for scheduling, just in case your first choice is not available. All sessions must be paid in full prior to scheduling and lessons will be rescheduled if the session is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances or we have been notified that you need to cancel the session a minimum of 24 hours prior to the appointment.

Horsin’ Around program
The GHERF Horsin’ Around program was created to inspire a sense of community in youth, while helping them develop character, leadership, and confidence through a program that teaches horsemanship from the ground up, including riding and mounted sports. This program provides a strong foundation for participants who are interested in pursuing a more comprehensive equine education, including horse ownership, competition, or becoming an equine professional. Program participants also provided opportunities to compete in 4H, Athletic Equestrian League, and other sanctioned horse shows.
This is an inclusive program, and all levels of ability are welcome!
